Illustrations from Naka-ku and Yamate-cho, Yokohama. These digital illustrations are drawn from close observation in Yokohama, tracing encounters with gardens, streets, seasonal plants, and moments of growth and decay. Working in a flattened, graphic language shaped in part by commissioned and commercial illustration, the works draw on Japanese visual traditions such as washi patterns, scattered compositions, and the balance between repetition and pause. Natural forms are abstracted into drifting clusters and rhythmic lines, echoing movement rather than description, and inviting the eye to wander through the image.
